Two updated CBF information sheets

The Challenging Behaviour Foundation (CBF) has updated two information sheets "Getting legal authority to make decisions about money, property and welfare" and "Getting a statement".

The ‘Getting Legal Authority to make decisions about money, property & welfare’ information sheet is a practical resource aimed at family carers.

If you have a family member with severe learning disabilities they may not be able to make all of their own decisions e.g. choosing a house or deciding whether or not to have a major operation etc.

The "Getting a Statement" information sheet has also been updated. The information sheet is specifically aimed at families who care for an individual with severe learning disability and behaviour described as challenging. The information sheet is now in question and answer format. Questions include:

What is a Statement?

How do I know if my child needs one?

What is the Parent Partnership Service?

How do I apply for a statement for my child?

What should be included in my child’s statement?

Good vs. Bad statement

What happens after my child gets a statement?

Where can I get more information about statements?

Points to remember
