The Challenging Behaviour Foundation relies on the generosity of our donors whose support enables us to continue to be there for people with severe learning disabilities and their families. Not everyone is able to give in their lifetime and a gift in your Will ensures that your impact will live on long after you have gone. Even a small gift can have a big impact, helping future generations and creating a legacy of kindness.
As an added benefit, it also reduces the tax liability of your estate — helping you to do more with what you leave.

How to leave a gift in your Will
Contact a solicitor
A solicitor will make sure that your wishes will be carried out as you intend. The Law Society has a website which can help you to find one in your area.
Find a solicitor – the law society
Choose the type of gift you would like to leave to the CBF:
- A residuary gift – this is a percentage share of the value of your assets, such as property and savings. This is the most helpful way to leave a gift to us as it won’t lose value over time.
- A pecuniary gift – this is a specified amount of money and can be any amount you choose.
- A specific gift – this is where you leave a specific item or items, such as such as jewellery, stamps or medals.
Write your Will
Your solicitor can help with this. To leave a gift to the CBF, you will need to include the following details charity details:

Appoint your executor
Your executor will be responsible for carrying out the instructions in your Will. This can be a friend, relative, or your solicitor.

At The CBF we remember the amazing Jan Seamer. Jan was a family carer who supported The CBF in many ways. Amongst her many valuable contributions, she was instrumental in the development of our behaviour workshops, ensuring they gave practical information to families based on lived experience. To honour Jan’s work and commitment, we have been able to offer free sets of workshops for family carers in her memory.
