New advocacy resource – supporting organisations
New information sheet: Organisations that offer support to family carers to advocate for their relatives with learning disabilities living in the community or in inpatient units.
Book an appointment to chat or offload your worries with someone who understands.
The wellbeing of our carers is just as important as the people they care for. Caring for someone can be both rewarding and hard work, and carers can sometimes forget they need a little bit of TLC too. Therefore, we are excited to offer a Listening Ear callback service.
During these 1-hour sessions, you are free to chat to one of our family carers about whatever you need to. This is a safe, non-judgmental space for you to offload any stresses or worries you may have with one of two family carers who have offered their time to support others. These sessions are informal chats and are not counselling, information or advice services.
The Listening Ear service is open to parents, carers, siblings or close relatives of children, young people and adults with severe learning disabilities who display behaviour that challenges.
