What Matters to Me Online Launch Event
Online launch event to share learning from the What Matters to Me project
On Thursday 27th March, the Challenging Behaviour Foundation hosted an online launch event to share learning from the What Matters to Me project.
What Matters to Me is a three-year project that involved engaging directly with 11 young people with severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities and working closely with their families and support circles. The aim of this engagement was to gather the experiences, preferences and views of these young people as they transition to adult services and use the learning to drive policy changes.
The online launch included:
- Providing a detailed overview of the methodology and project findings and presented the four films featured in the project’s multimedia manifesto.
- An explanation of how to use the project’s six Principles of Engagement to find out what matters to young people with severe or profound and multiple learning disabilities.
- Professor Jill Bradshaw from the University of Birmingham sharing how creative engagement methods can improve engagement with these young people.
- Ellie Spirrett from Lewisham Speaking Up describing their partnership with Entelechy Arts with the aim of bringing together people with profound and multiple learning disabilities to express themselves in their own way.
- Sharing the project’s Transition Findings.
The sessions in the main Zoom room were recorded for those who were unable to attend on the day. This recording is now available to view here – What Matters to Me – Online Launch Event – Challenging Behaviour Foundation
