SEND and alternative provision improvement plan published

On the 2nd March 2023 the government published a SEND and alternative provision improvement plan.

On the 2nd March 2023 the government published a Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and alternative provision (AP) improvement plan. This plan includes the government’s response to the SEND review: right support, right place, right time  consultation in March 2022 and sets out the improvements the government will make to the SEND and alternative provision system in England.

The plan says it will set out a clear roadmap to transform the SEND and AP system by establishing a single national system that delivers for every child and young person with SEND so they enjoy their childhood, achieve good outcomes, and are well prepared for adulthood and employment. It also promises to strengthen accountability and give families greater confidence in the system.

Greater investment in families as key partners and early support for children and young people with learning disabilities is needed and the CBF will be reviewing the plan in detail over the coming weeks and months to see if it will deliver the promised outcomes.
