Online credit and debit card payments

Payments’ processor

Stripe, our payments’ processor, collects all donations made via the CBF’s website. When donations are collected, they incur a processing fee which covers the collection, credit or debit card fees and any administration of the donation.

The CBF will have access to the donation data required to reclaim Gift Aid from HMRC if you tick the box to enable us to reclaim Gift Aid on your donation.

Our payments processor has a strict safeguarding policy in place to protect donor’s money against fraud using a fraud prevention toolset. For more details, please see Stripe’s security page. Although Stripe uses encryption security software in areas where online payment details are accepted, we cannot guarantee the security of information and payments processed on the internet.

Gift Aid

For the CBF to claim Gift Aid you need to tick the box giving us permission. In doing so you also agreeing that you have paid the same amount or more in Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in that tax year.

You must keep a record of declarations for 6 years after the most recent donation you claimed Gift Aid on.

The CBF will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that is given. If you paid less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on the donations, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

Please notify us if you: want to cancel this declaration, change your name or home address, or no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains.

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.
