The help and support The CBF has given myself and my family has been invaluable when we were going through so much trauma in our lives. I was so alone in what we were going through I could not see a way out. It wasn’t until a friend on social media told me about what The CBF do to support families going through what we were going through that I gave them a call. From the very first conversation I felt like there was a light at the end of the tunnel and that at last someone was going to help us. I will be forever thankful.
If you or someone you support finds themselves in need of urgent help or a crisis situation arises, please refer to the ‘crisis support’ information provided here:

The CBF offers free peer support for family carers. We have carers catchups, a listening ear service and you can connect with other families through our Peer Support Network. Share experiences, offer mutual support and learn from others who understand the challenges you face.
We also have our podcast ‘Challenge Accepted’ for all parents, carers and professionals who support people with severe learning disabilities. At The CBF we know first hand how isolating and exhausting supporting someone with complex needs can be. We host family carers who are also navigating the ups and downs of supporting someone with a severe learning disability as they talk about a range of topics from coping with the summer holidays, to our new series on Transition.
Do you need information about challenging behaviour and connected issues? We have a broad range of resources free for you to access including information sheets, webpages, packs, templates and DVDs:
