Support for Winterbourne families

The charity Respond, which recently secured funding from the Department of Health to provide a helpline and emotional support for Winterbourne victims and their families, urges anyone affected to get in touch.

CEO Dr Noelle Blackman says: “We are proud to be providing this service. It is so important that people with learning disabilities get the support they need to recover after a traumatic event, and Respond can provide a variety of support options including psychotherapy, family support sessions, and assessments for people learning disabilities who experienced abuse.”

For more information about the support available, visit Respond's website:

If you want support, the Winterbourne View Helpline is open Thursdays from 10am – 4pm. Freephone number:  0808 808 0700.
