We are running Volunteer Welcome Workshops in Newcastle this spring

Are you interested in representing the Challenging Behaviour Foundation in your local area, or helping us to support other family carers?

We’re looking for family carers supporting someone with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour is described as challenging to get involved in our growing network around the country.

We’re looking for Local Champions, who can go to events and offer information to other families. Some of our local champions also give talks and host film screenings. If you enjoy meeting people, and want to help other families get the information they need about challenging behaviour we’d love for you to join us.

“I loved running the stall as I felt proud representing the CBF… This also gave me an opportunity to attend the conference which was excellent and very informative.”

Maureen, Local Champion

We need more Family Link Volunteers, who can offer telephone support to other family carers. If you’re a good listener and you think you could help support someone through a difficult time this could be a great role for you.

“Listening without giving constant advice is a skill I have had to cultivate, and it can be invaluable for someone who is struggling with problems related to challenging behaviour.”

Carol, Family Link Volunteer

Debbie-Altieri-Rochester-2012.JPGTo join us as a volunteer you will need to fill out an application form, and come along to our Volunteer Welcome Workshops. We’re holding Volunteer Welcome Workshops in Newcastle on March 26th-27th and April 23rd-24th. The workshops are a great opportunity to meet other families in your area and find out more about supporting people with severe learning disabilities and behaviour described as challenging.

The project is funded by the Big Lottery; we will cover costs of training (including an overnight stay), replacement care costs, and all volunteer expenses.

The deadline for applications is March 6th.

If you’re not interested in volunteering right now, we’ll also be holding a Social and Film Screening alongside the workshops on the evening of April 23rd. You are very welcome to come along, watch our Everybody Matters film, and meet some of the CBF staff and volunteers. If you would like to come, please email communications@thecbf.org.uk for more information.

If you’d like to find out more about volunteering there’s more information here.

You can email us at volunteering@thecbf.org.uk, or give us a call on 01634 838739, and Holly or Jessie will be happy to chat to you about getting involved.
