The Challenging Behaviour Foundation is recruiting new volunteers

The Challenging Behaviour Foundation (CBF) is looking for family carers who can help reach more families of people with severe learning disabilities whose behaviour is described as challenging. There are two volunteering roles we are recruiting for: Local Champions and Family Link volunteers.

Our Local Champions go along to events and share information and resources about challenging behaviour. We train our Family Link Volunteers to provide emotional support to other families in similar situations over the phone.

You can read more about both these roles on the volunteering page of our website or by downloading the volunteering flyer.

The CBF will cover all the costs of volunteering including replacement care costs. This project is funded by the Big Lottery.

Parents, brothers, sisters, or other close relatives are all invited to apply, no specific experience or qualifications are necessary, just the experience of supporting a family member.

We give volunteers a full introduction to the charity and the roles at our Volunteer Welcome Workshops. These workshops are co-facilitated by a trainer and a family carer co-trainer and include a session from our family carer founder Vivien Cooper OBE, a workshop on supporting people who display challenging behaviour, as well as lots of information about behaviour, rights and safeguarding. They are also a great opportunity to meet other family carers.

The next Welcome Workshops will be in Leeds on the 5th & 6th of June and 10th& 11th of July. To apply, please download the application and monitoring forms, email or phone 01634 838 739.
