The Paving the Way project (formerly known as the Early Intervention Project) aims to deliver better outcomes across the country for children with learning disabilities whose behaviour challenges.
The CB-NSG was founded in 2008, and it is an action-focused collaborative that plans strategically to deliver real change for children and adults with learning disabilities who display challenging behaviours. The Challenging Behaviour Foundation chairs the CB-NSG, and other core members are family carers, people with learning disabilities, representatives of professional bodies, researchers, service providers and practitioners.

This resources aims to provide a practical tool for advocates in supporting a person whose behaviour is described as challenging, to enable them to exercise their rights to the same life opportunities as everyone else.
Social Care Institute for Excellence ‘At-a-Glance’ Guides
Three ‘At a glance’ guides aimed at family carers supporting people whose behaviour is described as challenging are available. The guides have been developed in collaboration with the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE). There are separate guides for adults, teenagers and children.

Early Intervention Project

Paving the Way is a joint project from the Challenging Behaviour Foundation and the Council for Disabled Children – working in partnership with families and professionals to share and promote good practice.
The Paving the Way resource is a guide to develop effective local services for children with learning disabilities whose behaviours challenge. The guide may be useful for commissioners, professionals, and families, and can be downloaded here.
