Family Support & Policy Internship
(4 days per week)
Salary: £12,070.50 (pro rata)

- Do you want to campaign for better lives for children and adults with learning disabilities?
- Do you have a Psychology or other relevant degree?
- Do you have the ability to present complex information in a way that is simple and easy to understand?
You will join our small family support and policy team at the Challenging Behaviour Foundation.
You will assist with an early intervention project which the Challenging Behaviour Foundation is leading on in collaboration with the Council for Disabled Children (the umbrella body for the disabled children’s sector in England).
You will contribute to our campaigning and national influencing work, including assisting with our Winterbourne View campaign which we are undertaking in collaboration with Mencap. Your role will also include helping to co-ordinate the Challenging Behaviour – National Strategy Group steering group (a group of senior national stakeholders with expertise in the field).
You will liaise with leading academic authors in the field of learning disabilities to update written information sheets. Through researching information for and developing drafts of new written resources you will increase the range of information available to family carers who have a son/daughter with learning disabilities and behaviour described as challenging.
This post will be based at the Challenging Behaviour Foundation (CBF) office in Chatham. You will receive regular supervision from the Family Support Policy Manager and additional supervision from a clinical psychologist.
