Friends of CBF FAQs
Who are the Friends of CBF?
Friends of CBF are friends, families and professionals who form a community of individuals who work together to help everyone to understand more about people with severe learning disabilities and behaviour that challenges.
Friends of CBF are people who like what we do and want to support us and know more about our work.
What do Friends of CBF do?
Friends of CBF make a difference to our charity because their regular donations help us to plan ahead and make specific projects happen.
Friends of CBF are given opportunities to contribute to our work and (if they have the time) to get involved in different ways. For those that want to, we hope to arrange occasional opportunities to meet up and network with other Friends, both families and professionals.*
* NB. We will need YOUR help to make this happen! This is a new venture for us - please help us to help you make “Friends of CBF” what you want it to be!
I work for an organisation - can they become a Friend of CBF?
Friends of CBF is a scheme for individuals. Named individuals from an organisation can become Friends of CBF and there are lots of other ways an organisation can support CBF, just contact us to find out more.
Why join the Friends of CBF?
The Challenging Behaviour Foundation is a registered charity with no guaranteed regular income - so we need your support! Every penny of your Friends donation goes towards the work of the CBFand helps us maintain our existing service to families as well as increase awareness of the needs of individuals whose behaviour is described as challenging. This year all the Friends of CBF donations are going towards our 15th anniversary appeal, which is all about helping us to reach more families.
Friends of CBF receive regular email newsletters so they can keep up to date with news, events and projects. You will learn how your donation has been used, how you can get involved in the work of CBF and - through occassional Friends events - have the opportunity to meet like-minded people.
What will I receive?
Friends of CBF will receive:
- Regular email newsletters
- Invitations to occassional social and networking events*
- Information about CBF projects and how you can get involved
* NB. We will need YOUR help to make this happen! This is a new venture for us - please help us to help you make “Friends of CBF” what you want it to be!
What are the Friends events?
From time to time CBF will invite 'Friends of CBF' to events where you can meet members of the CBF team and other CBF supporters, both family carers and professionals. Alternatively, we can put you in touch with other 'Friends' in your locality and support you to organise a 'Friends' event in your area.
How much does it cost to join?
Friends of CBF are individuals who believe in the vision and values of the CBF and want to support our work - so there is no limit to how much you may want to give. However, to join ‘Friends of CBF’ we are suggesting a regular donation of at least £2.50 per month or £30 per year. Your Friends of CBF donation will be set aside for a specific purpose, of which we will keep you fully informed. A standing order (recurring donation) is important as it helps us to keep our administrative costs down and means that we don't have to spend CBF's money issuing renewal reminders.
If you are not able to donate this amount annually you may like instead to think about how you might fundraise for us. You can also join ‘Friends of CBF’ by pledging to raise at least £30 annually for the Challenging Behaviour Foundation. Please contact us for more information
Can I Gift Aid my donations?
Yes, if you are a UK tax payer you can add Gift Aid to your donations; which means that CBF will receive an extra 25% on top of your donation. For example, if you choose to Gift Aid £30 CBF will receive £37.50. You are able to Gift Aid donations through Virgin Money Giving or through the CBF standing order form.
How do I join Friends of CBF?
